About the role:
Exciting Opportunity for Data Science Students at Aurizon!
Are you a Data Science student looking to gain valuable work experience and earn while you learn? Aurizon is offering an excellent opportunity for you to join our team!
You'll work as a casual employee for an initial period of 3 months within the Commercial & Service Design team of Aurizon's new Containerised Freight business. Your role will involve leveraging your Data Science skills to support various initiatives in the rapid startup phase of the Containerised Freight business: exploring and wrangling data; undertaking analyses; and creating captivating visuals.
About you:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Data Science or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Superior proficiency with Power BI: transforming data using Power Query and writing advanced DAX (essential).
- Awareness of the "star schema" approach to data modelling with facts and dimensions.
- Experience with SQL and exploring data using SQL Server Management Studio (desirable).
- Proficiency in other languages such as R or Python (optional).
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently, deal with ambiguity and adapt to a dynamic work environment.
- Interest in broadening experience beyond pure Data Science tasks, e.g. the role has potential for involvement in some new systems specification and testing work for an interested candidate.
- Able to commit to 3 days a week.
