Your new role
As the Database Administrator, you will work within the Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) Service as part of the Applications Services team. This Branch provides proactive support to ensure the availability and quality of applications used throughout SAPOL. The Branch manages software throughout its life and also contributes to projects by providing expertise and advice and works collaboratively with project managers to ensure projects successfully transition to a supported life cycle model.
Your role is accountable for the provision of database management system (DBMS) services for relational databases and for assisting in ensuring access to data by supporting selected data access software facilities. Tasks will include coordinating or undertaking the installation and customisation of database products, primarily Microsoft SQL Server and MySql, Oracle and related third party products and monitoring the performance and activities of DBMS software.
Success Factors
- A high level of analytical skills – able to identity issues and understand the nature of the problem
- Demonstrated experience working with clustered MS SQL environments which are required to be highly available
- Demonstrated experience in the support of an RDBMS at a technical level, specifically MS SQL and MySQL
- Experience in the design, implementation and administration of large database environment, specifically MS SQL.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and achieve agreed objectives
This role will require you to be on a roster for on-call services.
WFH flexibility is available.

- The incumbent must hold a current Australian work eligibility status and will be subject to a criminal history check.
- The incumbent may be assigned to other duties at this remuneration level or equivalent.
- Some out of hours work and intra/interstate travel may be required.
- The incumbent is required to participate in SAPOL’s iEngage program.
Salary
ASO6 - $97,022 - $102,626 per annum.
