Database Administrator (Dba)

Our software enables the smooth flow of funds throughout a supply chain or network of buyers and sellers, from producer to end-consumer. 

Spenda is seeking an enthusiastic team member to join our Development department in Perth. You will be working with a strong and supportive team and as such you must be able to work effectively in a team environment. Roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Provide an expert ownership of database design for high performance, with writing and ongoing performance monitoring and tuning of SQL and T-SQL.
• Be responsible for all SQL Server database administration services and functions, with a predominant focus on administering Azure SQL Databases.
• Be accountable for a high-level of cybersecurity risk awareness and standards within the database and data domain.
• Provide logical and physical database modelling expertise to the Software Development Team and publish data models. 
• Ensure the tools and processes for provisioning databases and change-control of database structures and data, are efficient and effective.

The successful candidate will have outstanding organisational and communication skills. The ability to prioritize and meet critical deadlines with a level of high attention to detail. Whilst previous experience in a similar position would be essential, equally as important will be your demonstrated experience in the following areas:

• A relevant tertiary qualification or another relevant field.
• 5+ years as a Development DBA in a medium to large-scale complex IT environment, using SQL Server, Oracle or DB2.
• 3+ years of experience administering Microsoft SQL Server or Azure SQL production databases.   
• Have a good understanding of cloud-based software delivery practices in Azure, as they pertain to SQL Server environments.
• Be an active custodian of setting and achieving professional and personal goals to further your career, while working with your Line Manager in the Professional Development Program.   

Additional experience that would be preferred but not mandatory includes:

• Knowledge of OOP coding patterns and ORM frameworks, especially in relation to the Microsoft application development stack.
• Good Powershell scripting knowledge. 
• An interest in developing your skills in the BI and Azure machine learning space.
• Some retail/supplier business operation or accounting domain knowledge.
• Be a champion for sharing a good understanding of the 4 values and 12 principles of The Agile Manifesto, through the continuous improvement of agile software processes and practices. 
• Have experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery for Database Changes
• Microsoft Power BI experience
