Our opportunity
We have a Full-Time permanent opportunity for a Database and Applications Architect, to join our IT team based in Macquarie Park. Reporting to the National IT Manager, the primary focus of this role is to manage all Oracle Databases including coverage of application architecture and support.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting the delivery of reliable, high performance relational Database management systems for the organisation’s core business applications both on-premises and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
- Undertaking daily administration, including monitoring database and system performance, ensuring successful database backups, and developing/implementing disaster recovery plans.
- Modifying existing databases or instruct developers and analysts (either on shore or offshore) on the required changes.
- Managing patches at both the database and applications level.
- Providing support to the Applications team
- Responsible for the Unix administration with backup or fallback support from Unix/OCI Outsourcer.
- Back up of the MS-SQL Server database administration when required.
Other requirements:
- Experience and specialist skills in the design, configuration, and maintenance of database technologies.
- Experience in managing Oracle environments both on-premises and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
- Well-developed skills in associated Database programming languages such as SQL.
- Well-developed skills in one or more major operating system platforms such as Solaris, Linux and Windows.
- Strong skills in Unix shell scripting
- Exposure to Cloud services including SaaS and IaaS.
- Good understanding of the business information needs of the organisation.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Documentation and communication skills.
In addition to the above, the successful candidates will be able to will need to work effectively with key internal/external stakeholders and Toshiba team members across multiple departments and at various levels. Therefore, sound interpersonal skills, strong customer service orientation will ensure success.
