Multiple Casual Dental Assistant Positions available.
The Dental Assistant positions within the Oral Health Team will be located at Kirwan Health Campus. The Dental Assistant will provide general chair side support to Dental Officers and Oral Health Therapists, to ensure that dental treatment provided is of the highest standard. Oral Health Services forms part of the Health and Wellbeing Service Group,
Oral Health Services provides free emergency and general dental care to eligible adults in community dental clinics. School students from 4 years of age to year 10 are entitled to free preventative and general dental care in fixed or mobile dental clinics. Limited specialist orthodontic and oral surgical care is also available.
Applications will be considered if a Certificate III in Dental Assisting has not been completed, An appointment will be at CA2 classification in the Dental Assistant Training position until successful completion of the qualification within 12 months of appointment.
About the Role
- Provide a caring environment for the treatment of patients by maintaining and applying effective interpersonal skills and ensuring patient confidentiality.
- To assist with clinic management including surgery stock control, recording of clinical activity, and maintenance of instruments and equipment, to ensure that dental treatment is provided effectively and efficiently.
- Proven ability to work effectively within a team or autonomously, utilise discretion in decision making and prioritising.
- 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.
Requirements
- It is a mandatory requirement to be and to remain vaccinated against COVID-19.
- This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
- Certificate III in Dental Assisting is mandatory for the CA3 position. However, if Certificate III in Dental Assisting has not been completed, then appointment will be at CA2 classification in the Dental Assistant Training position until successful completion of the qualification within 12 months of appointment.
- Proof of qualification and registration or membership (if applicable) with the appropriate registration authority or association.
- Blue Card Checks: Potential applicants are advised that the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian Act 2000 requires Queensland Health to seek a ‘working with children check' from the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian prior to appointment to this position. 5.1.
- Possession of a ‘C' Class drivers licence is highly desirable.
- Undertake training and travel associated within Townsville Hospital and Health Service Policy.
- Working across the different clinics in the Townsville region is a requirement of this role and the potential of an overnight travel to our Hughenden, Richmond and Palm Island clinics.
