Job description

Job Description:

Dental Officer – Permanent Full-time / Part-time

Tasmanian Health Service – North West

To be Tasmanian is to value quality over quantity. We create, preserve, and protect the unusual. With quiet confidence, with passion and perseverance, we pursue the extraordinary. Could you be Tasmanian?

You can be a Dentist anywhere in the world. What’s different about the North West of Tasmania is our culture and our lifestyle. You will have a powerful connection to your colleagues and patients, and the community will encourage your success. Our isolation helps drive a culture of invention and human connection, which feels both old fashioned and… like the only future worth pursuing. Here you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to breath-taking coastlines, National Parks or award-winning fine foods – all right on your doorstep. After a hard day at work, you don’t have to sit in a car for an hour. You can get on your bike or put on your boots and tell it to a mountain.

Want to hear from someone who made the move and works within the service? Owen moved from QLD in 2019 to become a Dental Officer with us and would be very happy to share his insights if you’d like to get in touch on 0416 310 ***.

There are approximately 100 of us in the Northwest region, an eclectic mix of locals and new Tasmanian adventurers. We are dental professionals and assistants, customer service and administration officers, coming together to improve the lives and livelihoods of our community. Here, you are encouraged to be your authentic self, to pursue your passions, and to bring your clinical and world knowledge to the table to contribute to making our team one that punches above its weight with progressive and impactful care.

Oral Health Services Tasmania are looking for experienced dentists who would like to join our team. A successful and suitable applicant can have opportunities to supervise final year undergraduate students, complete dental treatment under general anaesthesia as well as work within our major clinics based in Devonport and Burnie. We are a progressive and innovative service, currently leading the way in Australia through our uptake of Digital Dentistry and our work with Conscious Sedation. We will provide opportunities for a varied working week supported by a tight-knit broader team. Considering applying but you are only newly graduated? We also offer a Dental Graduate Program, and a position would be considered for the right applicant.

We are small enough in Tasmania for you to shape and influence your work and make a real impact every day. Yet we are big enough for you to feel part of something important, somewhere you can belong and be surrounded by diversity, innovation, and friendships. We’ll look after you from the very beginning, ensure you are fully inducted and welcomed into our team and into our culture. We’ll tell you where to go for dinner, and on your days off. And we’ll invest in your growth, with time, resources, and expert colleagues available to help foster your development.

Something is happening here, and you’re invited to be part of it. Be Tasmanian.

Please get in touch with Dr Avery – our Senior Clinician – if you’d like to know more about our roles, services, and what we can do for you (relocation assistance, salary benefits, etc.): ***********@ths.tas.gov.au.
