Queensland Health may support the payment of attraction and retention payments incentives of up to 10%.

About us:
Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service covers an area of 142,900 square kilometres. We go as far as Tully in the south, Cow Bay in the north and Croydon in the west.
The outer western region of our service includes extremely remote communities. Cairns Hospital is the only major referral hospital in Far North Queensland and also provides care for people from Cape York and the Torres Strait.
About you:
In your new role you will…
- Demonstrated ability to provide high quality general practitioner Oral Health treatment to all age groups of patients.
- Have an ability to understand and react responsively to patient needs and complaints.
- Demonstrate ability to effectively manage the allocated resources and operations of a dental facility/area to ensure achievement of service agreement targets and other stated goals of the organisation.
- Have knowledge of or an ability to acquire knowledge of procedures, policies, regulations and standards which impact upon the position, in particular Public Sector Guidelines, and a knowledge of contemporary human resource management issues such as workplace health and safety, equal opportunity, and anti-discrimination.
About your opportunity:
In this position you will provide general practitioner services and Oral Health care for eligible patients, both adult and child, within the delivery system for public sector Oral Health care in Queensland.
About your role:
- Provide high quality general practitioner Oral Health Services to paediatric patients at least one day a week, including completed full courses of care and acceptance of referrals from therapists for treatment outside of therapist scope of practice.
- Provide high quality general practitioner Oral Health Services to adult patients.
- Provide leadership and direction of personnel working within your Oral Health team. Also maintain and apply effective interpersonal skills to facilitate the provision of a friendly, caring environment for the treatment of patients/clients.
- Participate in quality and service delivery and improvement activities including but not exclusive to Performance and Development, Accreditation and other Quality activities, within scope of practice at the local service delivery area.
- Provide mentorship and supervision of dental students if required.
