We’re excited to announce an opportunity for a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as the Department Manager - Piping and Mechanical Design (Australia East, PNG and Mongolia).
As the Department Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the department while overseeing a team of over 70 talented Designers. This is a great opportunity to showcase your leadership skills, leverage your technical expertise, and contribute to the continued success of Worley.
The successful applicant will be preferably based in either Brisbane or Melbourne.
We will require a leader who:

  • Focusses on development of their team members.
  • Drives technical integrity and delivery performance of the Piping and Mechanical Design Team.
  • Effectively manages workload of the team, forecast and manage resource requirements.
  • A clear and confident communicator who brings their team on a journey to achieve our business strategy.
  • Supports Sales and proposals in formulating technical execution strategy, providing key personnel, and reviewing hour estimates.
  • Supports the team in resolving project issues as required.
  • Has the ability to optimise engineering and design delivery through innovative thinking and use of Digital Tools.
  • Technically competent in Piping/Mechanical Design with proven track record in leading technical teams.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Technical diploma with discipline specific training or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Excellent people leadership and management skills.
  • Extensive practical technical experience in piping/mechanical design.
  • Ability to apply creative thinking to solve complex problems.
  • Proven leadership experience in piping/mechanical design on multiple complex projects.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with ability to develop high performance culture and unlock opportunities for our people.
  • Passion for the development of our people.
