Job description

Location Profile

Mt Eliza Primary School is a vibrant school that strives to provide the best learning opportunities for its students in a friendly, respectful, caring and professional environment.

As you enter our school you will notice the warm and inviting atmosphere. We pride ourselves in the development of a stimulating and engaging learning environment that focuses on our students developing academically, socially and emotionally.

Our vision for education encapsulates an environment that is the nerve-centre for learning; a place that promotes and encourages students, teachers, families and industry to be partners in the learning journey; a place that puts the child at the centre of all decisions. We believe in finding the balance between explicit teaching and guided inquiry to build the capacity of all learners ¿ a culture of collective responsibility.

At Mt Eliza Primary School, we promote a distributive leadership approach and encourage all members of the school community to have a voice. This starts with developing a shared vision with high expectations at the core, where:

  • Relationships are fostered and developed, and collective wellbeing is paramount
  • Collaboration is the culture of being and doing
  • Successes are celebrated and a continual process of improvement is the expectation

Drawing on research, we are committed to creating a culture of innovation and agency, with a view to developing an engaged and high achieving learning community.

Mt Eliza Primary School has a student population of 476 students and this year we are running 20 classrooms with specialist programs in: Visual Arts, Performing Arts and Physical Education. Our Grade 3 and 4 students have cooking classes in our Kitchen Garden Program where they grow their own vegetables and herbs in our Kitchen Garden. They develop global connections through learning Indonesian as an additional language, and sessions that support our STEM focus.

We see our parents as our partners in their child¿s education and encourage families to become involved; we welcome the support of our incredible community. Our School Council and PTA meet regularly and work hard to support the staff and students at Mt Eliza Primary School.

In partnership with our community we have developed a culture that reflects our five values:

Respect, Responsibility, Resilience, Connectedness and Challenge. These values are the cornerstone of what we do, they support our approach to learning and are key in the way in which we develop respectful relationships across the school.

We are extremely proud of our school and invite you to explore our website further to experience more of the wonderful things we do here.
