The Opportunity
Working as part of the Integrated Marine Observing System (IMOS) team, you will play a crucial leadership role in the development and management of our next-generation web-based data management and data discovery systems to make a tangible difference to outcomes for the marine environment. Be part of these exciting new developments that will provide a step change advancement in the way the marine science community, industry and other users access data to derive environmental, economic and social benefits.
In this role, you will:
- Provide input in preparing and implementing strategies to achieve AODN and IMOS goals and, within remit, take responsibility for ensuring these goals are met.
- Work with the AODN Director and IMOS Executive, to provide leadership for developing and implementing IMOS projects that contribute to the growth and evolution of AODN.
- Work closely with AODN Product Managers to coordinate across the portfolio of software product solutions.
- Engage with the national and international marine science community to promote uptake and use of the AODN information infrastructure.
- Work with the AODN Director, to provide leadership and direction for the AODN team and support a positive, inclusive, and high performing IMOS team culture.
- Establish and manage the outsourced services or functions and any risks associated with outsourcing.
What you will need to succeed
- Experienced in managing software product portfolios including developing product roadmaps and release strategies, and leading agile software teams.
- Knowledgeable in the design and operation of federated/distributed data systems and an understanding of information management issues and associated technologies in these systems.
- Driven, acting and using initiative to pursue outstanding results, even when presented with difficulties or setbacks.
- An innovative thinker with the ability to produce new ideas and develop novel solutions and apply theories and concepts to form strategies and navigate future trends.
- Be an adept and experienced leader of high performing teams and have a strategic approach to team development and people-centric management.
- Experienced in engagement with a wide and diverse range of stakeholders (e.g. data providers, expert and non-expert data users) to achieve project/program objectives.
