About the Opportunity 
 

We have a fantastic role for a Deputy Director Mental Health Drugand Alcohol Services to join FWLHD to take the operational lead to evaluate current practice and process?, work on continuous improvement initiatives and strategies, including being hands on to support our multi- disciplined team. 

Reporting and working closely with the Director Mental Health Drug and Alcohol Service, you are collaborative, solutions focused, take pride in your achievements, lead by example, proactive with team leadership experience to build and develop a strong culture, and not afraid of change, to enable growth and make a real difference to our community.

No day will be the same in this busy role, where you are responsible for the senior operational management and leadership of all aspects of a designated group of Mental Health operational clinical services within the Far West LHD.

Some of your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
 

  • Provide effective leadership for the management of human, financial and material resources to achieve State and LHD priorities as set by the Director of MHDA.
  • Participate as an effective member of the Mental Health directorate, contributing to strategic planning and decision making through collaboration with the wider team.
  • Provide expert clinical leadership and support to managers across the district, to ensure effective systems are in place to promote high level communication and cooperation between all teams to enhance continuity of care and improve health outcomes for consumers and their families.
  • Ensure integration of Mental Health clinical services across service streams to enable effective patient flow, transfer of care and work through barriers to care with our NGO providers.

How to Apply

To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria in the application as thoroughly as possible:

  • Possession of appropriate tertiary qualification and/or relevant management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide strategic leadership and effective management in a complex, multidisciplinary and evolving Mental Health care service provision environment.
  • Demonstrated behaviours that reinforce the CORE values of our organization; Collaboration, Openness, Respect, Empowerment.
  • Demonstrating these behaviours with all stakeholders, colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers and those that care for them.
  • Significant high level clinical experience and competency and demonstrated ability working at a senior management level within a recognised Mental Health service.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills and demonstrated ability to influence and achieve the outcomes in areas of responsibility.
  • Proven capability to lead service redesign and manage change.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the clinical governance framework as it applies to contemporary Mental Health practices and principles along with a demonstrated understanding of the legislative requirements pertaining to Mental Health services.
  • Valid unrestricted drivers license for use in NSW/Australia and willingness to travel in the course of employment.
