Job description

Advertised Vacancy Number: IPS/DP884531

This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 2, 2024

Carlisle Primary School (PS) is seeking a dynamic Deputy Principal dedicated to fostering educational leadership within our school and the wider community. In this role, you will develop and promote our school's vision, business plan, and strategic directions, ensuring alignment and engagement across all stakeholders. Central to your responsibilities will be cultivating and maintaining a positive school culture that nurtures strong relationships among students, staff, parents, caregivers, and the broader community.

The ideal applicant will exemplify exceptional leadership qualities and exhibit a deep commitment to overseeing and supporting an inclusive, differentiated learning program of high quality. You will ideally possess a proven track record in systematically analysing school data, providing high-quality in-class coaching, and facilitating consistent teaching programs and practices throughout the Kindergarten – Year 2 learning space.

A comprehensive understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum, from Kindergarten to Year 6, and a proficiency in bringing the Early Years Learning Framework, National Quality Standard, and Kindergarten Guidelines, to life alongside our ECE staff is imperative for this role.

Our school's motto, "LEARN, GROW, TOGETHER", encapsulates our dedication to sustained improvement at the individual, team, and whole school levels. The successful applicant will collaborate closely with the phase of learning team leaders and project leaders to cultivate leadership capacity across the staff and foster a culture of teacher-led change. Your exceptional interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence will empower our teachers and support staff, providing them with differentiated support and genuine care as they embark on their improvement journeys.

While specific elements of the Deputy Principal's portfolio will be negotiated with the school leadership team, experience in leading improvement initiatives across the early years to enhance whole-school learning will be highly advantageous.

Supported by our dedicated and engaged community, our school prioritises equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for success in an ever-evolving society. We achieve this through implementing high-quality teaching and learning programs, robust pastoral care initiatives, and a stimulating learning environment that instils in our students a passion for learning and cultivates their confidence and capabilities.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:

  • Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
  • High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
  • Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
  • Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

Applications will be assessed against the work related requirements of the position. The business needs of the school may also be considered. It is therefore recommended that you consider all information contained in the advertisement and any other related information before applying for the vacancy.
