Senior Scientist HaematologyGrade 4

  • Full Time ongoing role – 80 hours per fortnight with monthly ADO

  • Based at The Royal Melbourne Hospital City Campus - Parkville
The Royal Melbourne Hospital is one of the largest health providers in Australia. We provide a comprehensive range of specialist medical, surgical and mental health services, as well as rehabilitation, aged care specialist clinics and community programs.Haematology is a busy modern laboratory, performing a range of diagnostic investigations. The appointee should have significant diagnostic laboratory experience in haematology- including morphology, special coagulation, instrumentation and NATA accrediation requirements.We are seeking an experienced Haematology Scientist to join our team providing senior leadership to the Haematology Service. As a key member of our team, you will have a passion for haematology and pride yourself on quality and service excellence in laboratory testing.Your new role:
  • Bring your leadership skills and experience to support the efficient operation of the Haematology laboratory.
  • Partner with people leaders to provide contemporary, innovative and accurate best practice advice and support on operational and strategic employee relations matters.
  • Collaborate and engage with key stakeholders and other departments in the RMH Pathology service.
  • Support staff training and development as well as quality improvement activities.

  • You demonstrate advanced problem solving, critical thinking and organisational skills.
  • You have effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • You show a demonstrated interest in staff development and education.

The new model for delivering public pathology services will present an exciting opportunity to improve the scope, scale and reach of pathology services and testing capability to all Victorians.As this role is with Royal Melbourne Hospital the successful candidate for this role will be initially employed by Royal Melbourne Hospital. Once the change process has been completed and the new public pathology entity is fully formed, which is anticipated to be in late 2024, this position and the successful candidate’s employment (including terms and conditions of employment) will transition to the new public pathology entity.
