About the position
We are currently looking at appointing a new Deputy Principal (K-12) for our Strathfield Campus.
Working closely with the Principal and Leadership Teams to drive the school’s mission and vision, the Deputy Principal operates in compliance with relevant laws and regulations while leading strategic initiatives to enhance the quality of education within a dynamic environment rooted in Islamic values
Our ideal candidate will have the following:
- A passion for immersive, hands-on teaching, deeply valuing the opportunity to be closely involved in the educational development of students and teachers.
- Experience in a leadership role within an educational setting is crucial, as is a background in primary or middle years teaching.
- A clear understanding of the expectations of a Senior Leadership position
Key responsibilities for the role include:
Curriculum Development:
- Participates in the review of teaching and learning programs
- Analyses academic data and tracking of individual performance in relation to individual student matters
- Assists in the production process (including proofreading) for Student Semester Reports, in consultation with relevant stakeholders
Staff:
- Leads the teachers by setting a good example for all
- Responsible for assisting staff with pastoral care and discipline issues and supporting staff in their daily responsibilities
- Mentors and participates in the induction program for new staff
- Leads the teacher accreditation and development process, including those undergoing NESA accreditation processes
- Assists in the oversight of staff Professional Learning, in consultation with relevant stakeholders
- Models high-quality teaching and learning practice
- High-level understanding of School Management Processes (timetabling, allocations and cal and bulletin)
Parents
- Leads clear and open communication with parents through being proactive in relation to both positive and negative actions of students
- Liaises with the School Counselling team regarding the provision of support for students with social, emotional, and/or behavioral needs and their families, and communicates the needs of these students to the staff in a timely and sensitive manner
Qualifications and accreditations
- Compliance with NSW Child Protection Legislation - Working with Children Check clearance
- Eligibility according to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA)
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a Senior Leadership role
- Minimum of 3 years experience in an IB School with a clear understanding of MYP, PYP and DP programs and curriculum
