West Wyalong High School is a comprehensive rural education school in the north western part of the Riverina, situated on the lands of the Wiradjuri people, 155 kms Northeast of Griffith. The school serves the town of West Wyalong and surrounding villages in the Bland Shire. The enrolment 7 to 12 has ranged between 265-310 over the past 5 years. In 2024 we have a population of 270 students of which 55 identify as having an Aboriginal background and 22 students are EAL/D.
Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Demonstrated capacity and experience in whole school planning, data evaluation and progress monitoring to support and lead school teams towards improvement and innovation.
- Leadership capacity in the operational and ethical management of the school including, ensuring the school meets key accountabilities and has effective school procedures in line with departmental policies.
- An innovative and responsive leader with proven ability to engage staff, students, parents and a diverse community in collaborative strategies that facilitate growth in student attendance, engagement, and wellbeing outcomes.
- Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
- Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
- Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

A relocation support payment of $5,000 up to $8,000 will be available for eligible applicants.
