About Gordonvale State High School

Gordonvale State High School is located 25 minutes south of Cairns. The school is a Year 7-12 High School catering to the needs of 800 students. Our school motto is: Strive to Excel. Our school has developed a strong reputation for its provision of educational opportunities across academic, vocational, agricultural and sporting areas.

The school's culture is characterised by the provision of individualised curriculum and high levels of educational support, achieved through a variety of pedagogical approaches including flexible learning space and co teaching.

Applicants who are from State Schools must have the permission of their supervising principal before applying as release from the school will require their Principal's authorisation.

About the Role

The role will focus on the following:

  • Development and implementation of multi tiered systems of support.
  • The student component will focus on the support and case management of yr 9 and 10.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Assist the Principal to lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Deputise for the Principal when required.
  • Uphold the Deputy Principalship as a values based, ethical and moral activity.
  • Embed socially just practices in daily school life.

About You

Within the context of the role, the ideal applicant will have the following key capabilities:

  • Demonstrated teaching competence and capacity to provide curriculum leadership leading to the achievement of quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and the capacity to develop and sustain productive relationships within and beyond the school community.
  • Capacity to use analytical skills to contribute to educational outcomes at the school level.
  • Capacity to manage effectively human, financial and physical resources to deliver high quality organisational outcomes.
