About Ravenshoe State School
Located on the Atherton Tablelands, Ravenshoe is located 123 kilometres south west of the regional centre, Cairns. At 930 metres above sea level, Ravenshoe is the highest town in Queensland, with Queensland's highest pub "The Ravenshoe Hotel" and highest railway station. It also has the Millstream Falls, the widest waterfall in Australia. Ravenshoe State School was established in 1912 and is a unique school with two campuses - primary Prep - Year 6, located at Ascham Street in town and the secondary campus Year 7 - 12, located at Moore Street, near the Kennedy Highway.
Ravenshoe has approximately 360 students from Prep - Year 12 and is one of only a select few schools in Queensland to run a fully operational dairy which milks approximately 60 head of cows twice per day. We have a strong focus on knowing and teaching the whole child, with the school priorities focussing on students ‘In class and learning, every school day!' and ‘Be a reader, become a writer'.

Your Role

The ideal applicant will lead one of our whole of school improvement agendas being pedagogy or differentiation and inclusion across both our primary and secondary campuses, which will be negotiated with the successful applicant. This role encompasses the line management of middle leaders, teachers and teacher aides aligned to the area of strategic improvement.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist the Principal to lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Deputise for the Principal when required.
- Uphold the Deputy Principalship as a values based, ethical and moral activity.
- Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
- Set high standards for student and staff performance.
About You
Our ideal applicant with have experience in working within both P-6 and 7-12 settings, training in Positive Behaviour for Learning, Explicit Instruction and trauma-informed practice, including restorative processes.
