Cross River Rail will transform the way we travel to, from and through Brisbane in the future. It will be a catalyst for 10 years of wider rail transformation across the whole of South East Queensland and it is already playing a key role in how we prepare for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Cross River Rail is a new 10.2km rail line including 5.9km of twin tunnels running under the Brisbane River and CBD. It includes the delivery of four new underground stations, two new above-ground stations, accessibility rebuilds for six stations, the construction of three new stations on the Gold Coast, and the introduction of a new world-class ‘ETCS' signalling system.

About the Role
As part of the Cross River Rail surface stations program we are delivering three new stations on the Gold Coast at Pimpama, Hope Island and Merrimac and the rebuild of seven stations on Brisbane’s southside. These projects will include parking, pedestrian and cycle path connections, platform access, integration to existing public transport networks, lighting, and CCTV.
As the Design Coordinator, you will provide critical administrative support to the Design Manager throughout the Surface Stations Program lifecycle. You will lead the coordination and administration of the design review process including supporting design review meetings. You will liaise with a range of stakeholders including project teams, external design resources, transport agency stakeholders and independent certifiers. To achieve a successful design review process you will maintain design schedules, trackers and registers and maintain document control standards and provide regular progress reporting.
This opportunity is offered as a contract until December 2025 with possible extension.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Design Manager in refining design review processes and governance frameworks.
- Lead the coordination of the design review process, consolidating and tracking design review comments from all stakeholders.
- Develop and update trackers, registers, and schedules to support design delivery, advising stakeholders of pending requirements and deadlines.
- Serve as the main contact for design comments and correspondence, working closely with Queensland Rail reviewers.
- Coordinate design review workshops, including meeting support such as distribution of agenda papers and documents, minute taking, and updating action registers.
- Coordinate technical dispute resolution, design clarifications or scope definition queries.
- Distribute design artifacts and manage stakeholder responses to advance designs to the construction phase.
- Contribute to project reporting activities and preparation of briefings and presentations.
About You:
- Proven experience in coordinating engineering design development, review, and approval processes for infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of document control and design management procedures.
- Good interpersonal and negotiation skills to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficient administration skills for creating and maintaining registers, trackers, and reporting materials.
- Relevant qualifications in engineering or project management, or equivalent industry experience.
