AddressWe are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Design Coordinator to join our team at Lighthouse Engineering, a leading steel fabrication business in Western Australia. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in drafting, with expertise in steel fabrication and design coordination. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects, collaborating closely with various teams to ensure seamless execution from concept to completion.
Responsibilities:
- Drafting and Design: Utilise drafting software (e.g., AutoCAD, Navisworks) to create detailed drawings and schematics for steel fabrication projects, ensuring accuracy and adherence to industry and Australian standards.
- Design Coordination: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, drafters, and clients to understand project requirements and coordinate design efforts accordingly. Facilitate communication between internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure alignment on design specifications and project timelines.
- Material Selection: Assist in the selection of appropriate materials for fabrication projects, considering factors such as strength, durability, and cost-effectiveness. Work closely with procurement teams to source materials and maintain inventory records.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough reviews of design documentation to identify any discrepancies or potential issues. Implement quality assurance measures to ensure that fabricated components meet established standards and specifications.
- Project Management Support: Provide support to project managers by assisting with project scheduling, resource allocation, and budget management. Track project progress and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders as needed.
- Technical Support: Serve as a technical resource for colleagues and clients, offering guidance on design best practices, material selection, and fabrication techniques. Provide training and mentorship to junior team members as required.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about advancements in steel fabrication technology and industry trends. Identify opportunities for process improvements and participate in initiatives to enhance design efficiency and quality.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
- Proven experience in drafting and design, with a focus on steel fabrication projects.
- Proficiency in drafting software such as AutoCAD, Navisworks, or similar programs.
- Strong understanding of steel fabrication processes and industry standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to producing high-quality work and meeting project deadlines.
- Previous experience in design coordination or management is advantageous.
