UGL now have a vacancy for a Design Engineer. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, and based in our facility at Bennetts Green, Newcastle, this role is responsible for the provision of engineering expertise in both pre and post contract phases, emphasizing on the preparation of compliant designs in line with specifications, standards, and good engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Lead design efforts on projects or tenders inclusive of design calculations and reports, and approval of design drawings.
- Adhere to company, statutory and legal design verification requirements.
- Prepare and meet quotation budgets and programs.
- Act as an interface with all cross-departmental stakeholders on specific tenders or projects.
- Communicate with clients on technical and related issues.
- Actively participate in business improvement to identify new or improved methodologies, products etc to support the growth and evolution of the business.
- Strictly adhere to both UGL and client's safety and environmental systems and standards.
About You:
- Mechanical Engineering Degree, or similar
- Minimum 3 years experience as a Design Engineer in a similar industry would be desirable
- AutoCAD and Inventor drafting skills would be preferred
- Experience with Heat Exchanger thermal design, Pressure Equipment design and piping analysis
- RPEQ and/or CPEng qualifications would be desirable
- Highly developed communication, negotiation and influencing skills
- Strong conflict resolution skills coupled with the ability to work both independently and in a small team environment, prioritise demands, and learn quickly
- The desire and drive to see projects through to fruition
- Experience with and/or an interest in Finite Element Analysis and structural design software would be highly regarded
