The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) is a Commonwealth-funded national research infrastructure facility within the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy program. The ARDC is a transformational initiative that creates competitive advantage through data for researchers, through access to nationally significant, leading-edge data intensive digital research infrastructure, platforms, skills and collections of high-quality data.
The ARDC's Development Operations Manager (DevOps Manager) leads a hybrid small software development team based in Canberra and other locations. The DevOps Manager is responsible for building and promoting a focused, high-performing and collaborative team environment and communicating clear objectives to ensure the delivery, success and continual improvement of several web-based national services that support research data discovery, connection, publishing, sharing and reuse.
Within the matrix organisation structure of the ARDC, the DevOps Manager reports to and works under the broad direction of the ARDC Director, Services and the ARDC Deputy CEO. The DevOps Manager leads and manages a small development team of IT professionals and is responsible for creating a positive and inclusive working environment by providing the team with guidance and support, overseeing their performance and identifying training and development needs.
In addition to the overall management and supervision of the development team, the DevOps Manager works collaboratively with the ARDC Director, Services, to strategically plan and lead the implementation and improvement of new or existing systems and services that directly support the strategy and mission of the ARDC.
To achieve desired business and stakeholder outcomes, it is essential that the DevOps Manager builds and maintains strong professional relationships with key stakeholders across the ARDC, research organisations, government agencies, business system owners and vendors.
The Successful Candidate will have:

Experience working in an Agile environment with Jira and Confluence tools is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience in the development, implementation and continual improvement of DevOps & QAOps processes and strategies to develop secure, resilient digital services. Experience with developing services using DevSecOps methodologies is highly desirable.
