D'Arcy Weil is representing a global leader in renewable energy, committed to driving the transition towards a sustainable energy future. With a strong presence in Australia, they are dedicated to developing and operating wind, solar, and battery storage projects that contribute to a low-carbon economy.
Our client is seeking a Development & Site Acquisition Manager to join their dynamic team in Australia. The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying, evaluating, and acquiring development sites for wind, solar, and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the growth of renewable energy in Australia while working with a leading global player in the industry.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify and assess potential development sites for wind, solar, and BESS projects across Australia.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, site assessments, and due diligence to evaluate the technical, environmental, and regulatory aspects of potential projects.
  • Negotiate land agreements, leases, and other contractual arrangements with landowners and stakeholders.
  • Manage relationships with landowners, government agencies, local communities, and other stakeholders throughout the development process.
  • Lead project development activities, including securing permits, approvals, and grid connections.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including engineering, finance, and legal, to advance project development milestones.
  • Prepare and present project proposals, business cases, and investment analyses to senior management for approval.
  • Monitor market trends, policy developments, and competitor activities to identify new opportunities and risks.
  • Develop and maintain a network of industry contacts, including developers, consultants, and regulatory authorities.
  • Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Support the implementation of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives and compliance with sustainability standards.
  • Provide regular reports and updates on project status, risks, and milestones to stakeholders and management.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks through proactive risk management strategies and contingency planning.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the development team.
  • Represent our client in industry conferences, events, and meetings to promote the company's reputation and interests.
Key Requirements:
  • Proven experience gained within the Australian renewable energy market, with a focus on development and Site Acquisitions for wind, solar, or BESS projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Business, or related field. Additional qualifications in project management or renewable energy development are desirable.
  • Strong understanding of project development processes, including site selection, permitting, and regulatory approvals.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel within Australia and occasionally internationally.
