We are looking for an experienced Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic to join our team and be responsible to maintain and repair our company owned fleet of trucks, trailers and materials handling equipment. You will assist us to ensure that the safe, smooth, and efficient delivery of our service is maintained, and even exceeded, to meet both clients and our own Company standards.
Responsibilties:
- Ensuring the Trucks & Trailers are maintained to a high operational standard
- Truck & Trailer repairs and maintenance are undertaken in a safe, timely and competent manner.
- Performing preventative maintenance on company equipment including routine technical repairs as well as adhoc repairs;
- Maintaining a daily record of all work tasks and materials per job
- Ensuring proper documentation is complete, including permits, repair orders, filing etc.
- Working in a safe manner consistent with the Company's policy and OH&S legislation.
- Observing and complying with all health & safety policies and procedures, including all safe operating procedures and instructions
Skills
• Minimum certificate 3 mechanical trade certificate/qualification
• Background as a Diesel Mechanic and/or trailer mechanic including refrigeration units.
• Demonstrated experience in the maintenance and repair of trailers (for heavy vehicles)
• EBS and electrical experience is advantageous
• Ability to diagnose issues
• Basic computer literacy – Ability to access and use computer and other required software programs
• Work in a team environment or if required autonomously
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and strong attention to detail is essential
• Current High-Risk Work Licence – Forklift is highly desirable
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Be available to work overtime during peak periods
• Experience in Mild Steel MIG welding is an advantage but not mandatory.
• elevant current Driver's Licence Endorsed for driving of truck (HC) & B-Double (MC) Licence for operating B-double tippers (if required to move the trucks) would be highly regarded
