About the team:

The Marketing & Fundraising Division is responsible for income generation through events, Direct Marketing, Gifts in Wills, Partnerships and Major Gifts. The Mass fundraising Unit has a diverse portfolio and raises $50 million a year. The team have full channel responsibilities and are working to create a profitable portfolio of mature, growth and innovation campaigns.

About the role:

The role will manage and deliver campaign plans to acquire and steward supporters through multi-channel mass marketing to maximise revenue to Cancer Council NSW.

Key responsibilities of the role:

Support the Direct Marketing Lead in strategy and planning:

  • Regularly scan the industry to benchmark activity, track trends and identify opportunities to grow campaigns.
  • Support the development of campaign plans and briefs to achieve revenue growth, improve profitability, increase the supporter base, and to improve loyalty and conversion rates to extend the overall lifetime value of our supporters.
  • Employ data insights to direct the plans and tactics for each campaign.
  • Take a test and learn approach to improve Return On Investment (ROI).

Manage campaign development and execution

  • Manage creative development for appeals and Daffodil Day across direct mail, eDM and digital, including managing all stakeholder feedback. At times, this may involve some copywriting and design support in Canva.
  • Work with the Supporter Experience team on audience selection for all channels, and on the execution of eDMs and SMS
  • Manage the execution of Direct Marketing campaigns across direct mail, digital and telemarketing
  • Effectively brief and manage agencies (website, creative, media, telemarketing, mailhouse and fundraising) to deliver campaign objectives with the best ROI.
  • Ensure campaign materials are created in line with the visual and verbal brand of the organization.
  • Work with Supporter Care and Operations teams to ensure they are briefed on all activities

Tracking and Reporting

  • Follow all financial procedures including managing quoting, financial approval, invoice processing and budget tracking
  • Support the Direct Marketing Lead with post campaign analysis to inform the strategic planning for the campaign portfolio.

 About you

Essential:

  • Experience in a similar role in fundraising or Direct Marketing
  • Experience working with marketing/fundraising databases
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to effectively listen, negotiate and show diplomacy
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills including the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Well-developed computer literacy including high level competence using excel
  • An excellent team player
  • Personable, articulate and easy to get along with
  • Ability to manage relationships diplomatically and confidentially

Desirable:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in marketing, fundraising or a related field
  • Experience of working in the Not-for-profit/NGO sector
  • Knowledge and understanding of philanthropic giving principles and the current fundraising environment in Australia
  • Experience in co-ordinating Direct Marketing campaigns
  • Experience in digital marketing
  • Experience in working with and developing good relationships with suppliers and agencies
  • Ability to innovate, be analytical and possess the capability to interpret data to find solutions and drive strategy
  • Demonstrated project management skills, and capacity to implement operational plans
