About the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission
The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission (the NDIS Commission) is an independent agency established on 1 July 2018 to improve the quality and safety of NDIS supports and services. The Commission is the dedicated national regulator of NDIS service providers in Australia and a non-corporate entity under the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013.
Key duties
The Director Audit and Monitoring will lead and manage a team to oversight the NDIS quality audit program and monitoring of compliance with registration and audit related requirements. This program is a critical part of the registration process and provides valuable information to inform registration decisions. It includes managing the Commission’s approval of quality auditors auditors and the auditor training requirements. It also includes managing compliance monitoring programs for the provider registration cycle.
The successful candidate will:
1. Proactively lead, manage and supervise staff, supporting skill and knowledge development through the promotion of learning and development opportunities provided by the Commission and the application of public sector values and principles.
2. Manage the delivery and continuous improvement of the quality audit program and monitoring processes, to secure provider compliance with registration cycle obligations
3. Represent the NDIS Commission, working collaboratively with other agencies, bodies or authorities.
4. Provide high quality, timely, accurate advice and reporting on audit and monitoring programs.
5. Identify, manage and escalate (as appropriate) risk and issues that impact delivery of programs.

1. Superior written and oral communication skills including the capacity to produce quality briefs, reports, and correspondence of a complex nature.
2. An understanding of audit schemes and how it supports the delivery of quality services for NDIS participants.
3. The ability, and the confidence, to make sound judgements and decisions based on thorough research, problem-solving, innovation and evidence-based practice.
4. Highly developed organisational skills including the capacity to manage competing demands and to meet deadlines.
5. Demonstrated research, analytical and presentations skills.
6. High order communication skills in a context of being able to present and explain complex information for a non-technical audience.
7. An outstanding communicator with excellent strategic capability, able to handle complexity and conflicting priorities and produce high quality written reports.
8. Ability to establish positive working relationships with team members and stakeholders.
9. Experience in managing and leading a team, to nurture and support staff, and to provide ongoing guidance and support.
