THE TOWN
Port Hedland is a dynamic, diverse town in Western Australia’s beautiful Northwest that enjoys a relaxed lifestyle. We are proud of our stunning landscapes, Aboriginal heritage, vibrant multicultural community, and our significant resources industry. The lifestyle is relaxed and its location on the ocean provides for a variety of leisure activities – soon to be enhanced by the Spoilbank Marina development. The original inhabitants, the Kariyarra people, call the place Marapikurrinya for the hand shaped formation of the tidal creeks coming off the natural harbour. The Town has two main residential centres, Port and South Hedland, which offer a range of community facilities and services including cultural hubs, recreation, and shopping. Importantly, it has numerous cafes providing quality coffee to rival any capital city in Australia.
