Recognising that technology is a key enabler of modern policing, the Strategy for Digitally Transforming Victoria Police was recently endorsed. The key themes of the Strategy are:
* Improve digital governance and decision making
* focusing digital investments in the right places
* designing-in security and privacy controls at the start
* leveraging strategic digital platforms
* nurturing agile people, methods, and partnerships
* better connecting data and information systems.
The Chief Digital Officer (CDO) and the Digital Services and Security Department (DSSD) are responsible for implementation of the Strategy in partnership with Commands, Regions, and Departments across the organisation.
About the role
Reporting to the CDO, the Director Digital Strategy, Investment and Assurance will be a member of the DSSD senior leadership team and a member of Victoria Police Command. The role will lead the Strategy, Investment and Assurance Division made up of teams responsible for Digital Strategy, policy, investment, and architecture and for assurance activities across departmental finances, people, technology contracts and corporate risks. The Director position has six direct reports and a team of circa 40 staff.
The role is classified at the SES-1 level and the Total Remuneration Package (TRP) range is from $216,376 to $279,238 including superannuation.
About you
We are seeking a motivated and talented person to bring thought leadership and a pragmatic implementation focus to organisation-wide Digital Strategy, policy, investment, architecture activities and to departmental assurance.
You will work collaboratively with Command members across Victoria Police and with your senior leadership colleagues in DSSD to lead and influence digital thinking and improvements in our culture and ways of working.
You will also engage widely with ICT vendors and with a range of organisations to collaborate on specific projects and initiatives, including:
* Victorian public sector departments and agencies in the context of Whole-of-Victorian Government ICT strategies and policing-related strategies in the justice, health, human services, and emergency services sectors.
* Law enforcement agencies in other Australian states and territories and in New Zealand
* The international law enforcement sector.
Requirements and relevant information
* The successful candidate must be prepared to undergo and successfully obtain and maintain a National Security Clearance to the level set by the Department Head. To obtain this clearance applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
* The preferred candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include reference checks, psychometric assessment, fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
* The successful candidate will be employed pursuant to Victoria Police policies and procedures. All Executive Officer appointments are in accordance with the Public Administration Act 2004 and the Victorian Public Service Executive Employment Handbook. The successful candidate will be required to enter an Executive Officer Contract of Employment for a period of up to five years.
