The Director will support the First Nations Justice Officer to shape the whole-ofgovernment priorities and responses to reduce Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander over,. This position will work in a small unit of 10 FTE (including this role) to develop a co-designed whole-of-government and community (justice) strategy to address over-representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the criminal justice system.

This role is a unique opportunity to work collaboratively and persuasively across government and non-government agencies (with a particular emphasis on criminal justice agencies) to achieve a cohesive approach to reform aimed at reaching the justice targets in the National Agreement.
- Provide leadership in managing and implementing a program of work to address Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander over-representation in the criminal justice system, supporting the First Nations Justice Officer, the Deputy Director-General, members of the DJAG Board of Management and the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice.
- Support the First Nations Justice Officer and Deputy Director-General to promote a responsive Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander justice system reform agenda arising from the Statement of Commitment to Reframing the Relationship between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the Queensland Government, Tracks to Treaty, and Closing the Gap.
- Support the Queensland Government representative on the JPP.
- Support the First Nations Justice Officer in working with DJAG business units to develop and implement a DJAG First Nations Strategy and Action Plan.
- Together with the First Nations Justice Officer, establish and provide secretariat support for the DJAG First Nations Advisory Body.
- Provide authoritative advice on how the strategies, policies and services delivered by DJAG can be enhanced to achieve better outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Oversee the work program and the staff of the First Nations Justice Office.
- Provide evaluation and reporting on DJAG's performance against its Aboriginal and Torres Strait priorities and commitments.
- Provide advice on Ministerial and Executive briefs, submissions and reporting that comments on the potential impact of new policy and program proposals on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander interactions with the criminal justice system.
- Represent the Office at a variety of inter-departmental and inter-agency meetings and ensure effective consultation and collaboration on justice policy issues that impact Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Queensland.
- Responsible for the effective management of the First Nations Justice Office in line with relevant legislation, policies, and delegated authority, ensuring adherence to ethical decision-making principles and standards.
