We are seeking a leader; a highly capable and innovative professional to lead our Infrastructure & Development Directorate of our Shire through exciting and rapid growth - delivering high quality, accountable and proactive outcomes and services to our community.

The Shire of Capel is located in the South West, halfway between Bunbury and Busselton. We live in an enviably diverse natural landscape that spans along the Capel and Preston rivers from the foothills of the Whicher Range to the beaches of Geographe Bay. We are one of the fastest growing coastal Shires in Australia.

Jointly responsible for the strategic leadership, organisation-wide decision-making and policy development, management and operations of the Shire of Capel as a member of the Executive team.  

As our Director Infrastructure & Development you will provide pivotal leadership and strategic direction to a multidisciplinary team encompassing Engineering, Planning, Building, Emergency Services, Environmental Health, Waste, Sustainability, Works, Parks, Natural Environment, Facilities and Strategic Projects. Your values-driven approach and continuous improvement focus will ensure the effective delivery of high-quality outcomes and services to our community, while building organisational capacity and team capability to meet the Shire’s vision and objectives.

With a strong community and customer focus, your will use your exceptional interpersonal skills to build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders throughout the Region and within the organisation and community; developing valuable partnerships and networks to support the achievement of the Shire’s objectives. Your flexible, transparent, and accountable communication style will build trust across your team and beyond the organisation.

• Base annual salary circa $160,000 - $175,000 per annum dependent on skills, experience, and qualifications
• Up to 14% Shire superannuation contribution

To be considered for this role you will be able to demonstrate:

• Behaviour that positively demonstrates the Shire’s HEART of: Honesty, Empathy, Accountability, Respect and Teamwork
• Experience in an Executive or Senior Leadership role and the demonstrated ability to deliver results in an environment of community and organisational growth and change. 
• Demonstrated experience in strategic management of a multi-disciplined directorate and the delivery of a diverse range of complex infrastructure projects.  
• Demonstrated capability in the provision of strategic advice on infrastructure programs and projects, or strategic town planning to support the delivery of outcomes.  
• Proven track record of establishing and building strong stakeholder and customer relations, including the ability to strategically influence and negotiate. 
• Proven track record in building organisational capacity and identifying and successfully implementing new initiatives. 
• Proven track record of building and enhancing organisational culture and a focus on continuous improvement. 
• Sound knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety principles and demonstrated track record safety performance. 
• Demonstrated experience in the development and preparation, delivery and control, monitoring and reporting of annual budgets (capex, opex and income / revenue).

A working knowledge of Local Government legislative and regulatory requirements relevant to the directorate function and experience in providing advice, reports and information to Council and elected members will be highly regarded.
