Exciting opportunity to join the Human Rights Unit, Strategic Policy, Department of Justice and Attorney-General (DJAG) as a Director on a permanent flexible full-time basis.
As the Director will lead and manage the Human Rights Unit within Strategic Policy
to:
- meet DJAG's administrative responsibility for the Human Rights Act 2019;
- lead a variety of work to continue to build a human rights culture across the Queensland Government, including DJAG;
- lead policy and legislative projects relating to human rights and anti- discrimination; and
- undertake other duties as required by the role.
- Lead and manage a highly-skilled, flexible and engaged team to deliver human rights policy, legislative, communication and professional development projects
- Work collaboratively with other departments, agencies and business units across DJAG (including maintaining appropriate working group governance, as appropriate) to identify and prioritise human rights issues and capability needs, and deliver policy and initiatives and reforms with a human rights focus.
- Review, maintain and develop tools to support human rights awareness and capability, including the Human Rights Portal ( ), communication, training and education products (for example: videos, guides and factsheets), templates, and other materials.
- Design, deliver and continuously improve human rights training products for Queensland Government departments and agencies, from introductory human rights webinars through to intensive, tailored human rights masterclass workshops.
- Provide intensive advice and support to other Queensland Government departments and DJAG business units on high-risk and high-profile human rights issues
