Our EnergyCo NSW Planning and Communities team is currently seeking to appoint a Director Land and Property to lead EnergyCo’s ongoing land and property portfolio management functions that enable the successful delivery of REZ programs, transmission infrastructure and other priority projects.

The Director leads a team providing policy and processes, governance and assurance and management of all land acquisitions, access, divestment and other property functions to ensure sensitive implementation with land rights holders and interested parties, in accordance with legislation, government policies and EnergyCo practices.

About You

We are seeking an experienced Director of Land and Property to lead our efforts in managing land portfolios crucial to the delivery of Renewable Energy Zones (REZ), transmission projects, and other vital infrastructure initiatives. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing strategic coordination of land acquisition, access, and divestment, while ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and government standards.

Your expertise will be pivotal in navigating complex negotiations and contentious acquisition matters, all while fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders and upholding ethical standards to maintain social license and government reputation. To succeed, you must demonstrate exceptional leadership skills, political astuteness, and the ability to drive collaborative efforts to meet challenging infrastructure delivery timelines. Key knowledge and experience

  • Expert knowledge of the Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Act 1991 together with caselaw relevant to land acquisition principles
  • Extensive experience as a senior property professional involved in complex land acquisition matters for government infrastructure projects and demonstrated successful management of a team of land acquisition professionals.
  • Highly developed communication and diplomatic skills with extensive experience in achieving negotiated outcomes relevant to land acquisition matters for government infrastructure projects.
  • Tertiary qualification in a property related discipline and/or demonstrated equivalent experience.

EnergyCo is responsible for leading the delivery of more than 14 gigawatts of new transmission capacity, coordinated with renewable energy and storage, including in five new REZs and two priority transmission infrastructure projects to date.

We are responsible for the on-ground infrastructure needed to bring new renewable energy online at the scale and speed to meet our transformation objectives in the Electricity Infrastructure Investment Act 2020 and NSW Network Infrastructure Strategy.

January 2024 EnergyCo NSW joined the newly formed Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water  (DCCEEW) which works to protect the state’s environment and heritage. It leads the way on climate change, driving the sustainable transition to a net zero economy, powered by affordable, reliable, and clean energy.
