The ERA is seeking a passionate professional to join us on a permanent full-time or part-time basis as Director Legal Services in our Office of the CEO division providing high quality Legal Services to the ERA. Further appointments for similar roles may be made from this recruitment process as and when opportunities arise in the next 12 months.

The Office of the CEO provides legal, research and communications support to teams throughout the ERA. We also have a strategic function, assisting the CEO to shape organisational culture and promote the ERA to our stakeholders.

About the role
As Director Legal Services, you will provide legal advice on moderately complex matters, provide legal support to key projects across the agency and undertake research and policy work on matters of strategic significance.
You will also coordinate all complex legal advice to the ERA from external sources such as the State Solicitors Officer and private law firms. You will assist project teams to interpret legal advice and oversee and advise on litigation involving the ERA.
The ERA is open to considering applications from all lawyers with some demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas:
- commercial law;
- statutory interpretation;
- public / administrative law;
- litigation; and
- energy law.
However, if your experience looks a little different from what we've identified and you think you can bring value to the role or the ERA, we'd love to have a chat. We are also open to discussing part-time and other flexible arrangements that will help you succeed in this role.
