An exciting senior opportunity exists for a hard-working and experienced executive to join the Office of the General Counsel as Director, Legislation and Policy at the Department of Premier and Cabinet.The Office of the General Counsel provides strategic legal and Policy advice to the Premier, DPC Ministers and other DPC branches.The Legislation and Policy Team in OGC is responsible for delivering integrated, strategic, and high quality legal and Policy advice to our key stakeholders. The Team advises on a broad range of matters including: constitutional, electoral, criminal justice, human rights, integrity, accountability and transparency systems, regulatory reform, parliamentary processes and major government projects.The Director, Legislation and Policy will provide executive leadership in the Office of General Counsel in the Legislation and Policy Team, advising on high priority legal policy and legislative matters.The office is looking for a hard-working and experienced Executive to support the General Counsel in overseeing the delivery of high-quality legal services in the Legislation and Policy Team. Experience in providing technically excellent legal and Policy advice in complex areas, preferably including the development of legislation, is required. Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Laws, Juris Doctor or equivalent legal qualification conferred by a university in a common law jurisdiction.This is a unique opportunity to lead and provide expert technical advice on complex legislative reforms from a whole of government perspective.
