Director - Machine Learning/AI Operations Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced MLops Engineer/Lead with the right blend of technical and business knowledge to drive the adoption and implementation of Generative AI across Deloitte.
What will your typical day look like?
This newly-created role will be focused on the generative AI transformation of our business, and will require deep knowledge of the NLP space, algorithms, proprietary LLMs as well as open source LLMs. The ideal candidate will be hands-on and have experience across the end-to-end MLops cycle, including deploying and scaling models in production.
Specifically you will:
  • Establish and lead the MLops function, defining strategies and best practices for the deployment, monitoring, and management of machine learning models in production environments.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and operations teams to build scalable and reliable MLops pipelines and workflows (LLMs and broader AI models).
  • Drive the implementation and optimisation of MLops tools and technologies e.g. Azure DevOps, Kubernetes, DataBricks, Synapse, Snowflake (across Azure, GCP, AWS or NVIDIA platforms).
  • Architect and design infrastructure and deployment strategies to ensure scalability, availability, and performance of machine learning models in production.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand use cases, industry-specific requirements, and business unit needs, and provide MLops solutions that address their unique challenges.
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in MLops, cloud computing, and AI technologies, and assess their potential for improving our capabilities.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing MLops team, providing guidance, support, and opportunities for growth.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement within the MLops team and across the organisation.
You are someone with:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in implementing and managing MLops processes and workflows, preferably in a cloud-based environment
  • Strong knowledge of machine learning techniques, model deployment, and productionisation best practices.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, as well as ML frameworks and libraries.
  • Experience with containerisation technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure-as-code tools.
  • Solid understanding of DevOps principles and practices, including CI/CD pipelines, version control, and automated testing.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to resolve complex technical issues related to MLops.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in hiring, mentoring, and developing MLops professionals.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and priorities.
