Associate Director, Tolling Reform Commercial

  • Remuneration:  $139787.44 - $161662.8; plus, Superannuation and Leave Loading

Be part of the team that will manage Treasury’s input into the NSW Government response to the Independent Toll Review Final Report by Professor Allan Fels and Dr David Cousins and lead the delivery of NSW Government’s preferred toll reform initiatives.

Role impact & contribution

The Associate Director, Tolling Reform Commercial will be responsible for managing the commercial aspects of the NSW Government response to the Independent Toll Review Final Report, lead the commercial aspects of the NSW Government’s preferred toll reform initiatives, including any negotiations with toll road concessionaires that may arise, and provide timely, expert, strategic, commercial and/or financial advice in relation to these initiatives. 

The Associate Director will need to proactively build robust relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, as well as contribute to improving the delivery of outcomes across the NSW Government through effective communication, collaboration, and advocacy with Treasury teams and Transport for NSW.

About the team

The Tolling Reform team is jointly responsible with Transport for NSW to provide strategic, commercial and/or financial advice to Government on the toll reform initiatives recommended in the Independent Toll Review Final Report and to implement the Government’s preferred recommendations. 

The Independent Toll Review has been examining the basis for setting motorway tolls in Sydney and the impact of toll relief measures.  The Independent Toll Review Final Report is expected to provide recommendations on the appropriate structure and level of tolls having regard to their efficiency, fairness, simplicity and transparency, the historical concession agreements with providers, and the interaction with all modes of transport. What you can bring to the role.

In this integral role there are a few things we would like for you to have to best support yourself and add value to the people of NSW.

The ideal candidate should have the following experience:

  • Experience in infrastructure, construction, major projects or project finance at a public sector organisation, private sector infrastructure company or law or professional services firm.
  • Experience structuring, negotiating and executing infrastructure transactions and taking a lead role in transaction management including financial and legal due diligence.
  • Experience with various contracting models, risk allocation and project finance.
  • Experience in the commercial aspects of infrastructure and major projects delivery including claims management.
  • Tertiary or postgraduate qualifications in construction management, engineering, commerce, finance, law or in a related discipline.
