Operating as the lead of the National Team, Energy Division, your high-level advice, strategic leadership and drive will be integral to delivery of the Queensland Government’s participation in national energy frameworks and stakeholder engagement.
You will play a leading role in setting Queensland’s energy agenda on the national stage. This will include advising and supporting the Minister, Director-General and senior executives on stakeholder, policy and negotiation matters. You will lead a team of dedicated professionals to support you.

Key responsibilities
- Provide expert advice and assist the Executive Director to provide strategic analysis and develop strategic policy on all aspects of the Queensland energy policy.
- Build and manage positive working relationships and partnership with clients and stakeholders in a complex and sensitive business environment to ensure the views of stakeholders are captured and addressed.
- Lead and manage the team's human, financial and physical resources to ensure the effective delivery of outcomes.
- Identify electricity market trends and analyse the implications for Queensland's policy in relation to national policy settings.
- Oversee the preparation of strategic policy documents (submissions, reports, papers, statements, briefings and correspondence) on complex and sensitive issues relating to electricity policy, industry and markets to inform Ministerial and senior executive decision-making.
- Lead and manage the provision of high quality, expert and authoritative advice to the Executive Director, Deputy Director-General, Director-General, Minister and other key stakeholders on national and state requirements; complex issues from a commercial, legislative, technical and policy view point; and the impact on Queensland.
- Represent the Department of Energy and Climate at state/federal conferences, internal/external meetings and committees, and interdepartmental - interjurisdictional working groups.
- Exercise judgement, authority and high level influence to effectively coordinate the management of client requirements and competing team priorities.
- Liaise, consult and negotiate with other Branches/Divisions, State Government and Commonwealth agencies, Government owned corporations and other customers and their representative bodies or groups.
