Our Opportunity

Reporting to the Head of Exploration APAC, this is a key leadership role provides technical oversight for the development and implementation of work programs, supporting global exploration strategy and executing business unit activities related to mineral exploration.

Responsibilities include delivering business results within budget, aligning work programs with global and regional exploration objectives, leading and mentoring teams, and contributing to the APAC Exploration Leadership Team.

Key accountabilities:

  • Develop value-driven exploration programs in collaboration with APAC Exploration Leadership and direct reports, aligning with site and regional strategies, and ensuring safe execution
  • Maintain compliance with Exploration standards and policies, track progress, manage budgets, coordinate funding requests, and collaborate with other support functions to optimize delivery
  • Deliver projects on time and within budget, ensuring timely delivery of targeted reserves and resources 
  • Foster collaboration among cross-disciplinary teams for onsite exploration activities, setting performance expectations and providing feedback
  • Cultivate inclusive and cohesive teams, facilitating development opportunities and technical upskilling for all staff
  • Implement company safety, environmental, and sustainability policies in exploration activities
  • Manage risk improvement activities, including monitoring performance and interfacing with community and government stakeholders for social license to operate

This opportunity will work in a hybrid work arrangement from our Perth offices and will require extensive travel to APAC and international sites and offices.

About You

This role will suit a seasoned exploration professional with a passion for driving best practice exploration methodologies, process and systems. You will have significant senior leadership experience complemented by a  B.Sc., M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Geoscience / Geology / Mineral Economics.

Key skills and abilities include:

  • Skilled in constructing relationships between diverse systems, managing integration, and considering initial consequences of design and decisions. Maintains effective communication with leadership and stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to apply mineral systems knowledge across various geographic and commodity spectra to identify exploration opportunities
  • Proficient in project management, capable of advancing projects from discovery to feasibility and execution of large-scale projects, with adaptability to reprioritize as needed
  • Advanced proficiency in ore systems modeling, financial evaluation, portfolio management, and commercial skills such as budgeting, forecasting, planning, analysis, and reporting. Demonstrated leadership experience and skill
  • Capable of managing responses effectively in diverse and challenging situations, while understanding the symbolic impact of one's behavior on organizational culture and change.
  • Creates an inclusive environment where team members feel safe to contribute, collaborate, and receive feedback, fostering engagement and adaptability in response to change
  • Promotes productive cross-functional alliances internally and externally, utilizing collaborative and constructive approaches
