Job description

Who are we?

At Basketball Australia (BA) it is our vision that basketball will be the sport of choice for Australian families in the 21st century. As the governing and controlling body of Basketball in Australia, we are a not-for-profit business who works closely to grow the sport with our basketball members, the eight State and Territory basketball associations.

Underpinned by our values BA strives to be recognised as a truly diverse, inclusive, safe and respectful community sport. The Basketball Australia Strategic Plan (2021-2024), the Diversity and Inclusion Framework, the Reconciliation Action Plan and the Women and Girls Strategy are critical in bringing our mission to life.

The Board of Basketball Australia

The Board is the governing body of Basketball Australia. The Board derives its authority from the process of election to the Board by Members of the Company and appointment to the Board by Directors as provided for in the Company Constitution. The Board upholds the Company Constitution.

The Board’s primary roles are:

The Board exercises governance through its Board Charter, Governance and Delegations Policies and other By-Laws. Operational decisions regarding organisational functions are the responsibility of the CEO in accordance with the appropriate delegated authority.

  4. Help monitor the performance of BA, including developing and using realistic Key Performance Indicators.
  5. Ensure BA adheres to its values and culture, including promoting diversity and inclusion.
  6. Listen to BA's members and key stakeholders, and work to ensure BA manages and responds to them appropriately, helping maintain positive working relations with stakeholders.
