About the opportunity
Are you looking to play a crucial role in shaping the future of veterinary education? We are seeking a Director for our Professional Experience program to support the launch of our new Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVetMed) and Bachelor of Veterinary Technology, set to commence in 2025.
The BVetMed program is designed to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge for a successful veterinary practice. Our objective is to prepare graduates who are fast learners, team players, and embody the professional attributes sought after by employers and veterinary teams.
As the Director, Professional Experience, you will focus on developing five key attributes in our students, bridging their transition into the veterinary profession and animal health sectors: * Establishing early connections with general veterinary practice and related workplaces.
- Linking basic and clinical sciences to develop problem-solving skills from an early stage.
- Fostering a professional identity and an inherent understanding of the veterinary industry.
- Enhancing communication and teamwork skills.
- Practising and refining core clinical skills.
As the Director, Professional Experience, you'll also contribute to the Veterinary Medicine & Veterinary Technology teaching and learning strategic plan, advising on Professional Experience in relation to courses, contemporary research, and establishing partnerships with key stakeholders.
About you
The ideal candidate will hold a high-level degree in Veterinary science and have current or eligible registration with the NSW Veterinary Practitioners Board, enhanced by clinical experience. A background in teaching within a Veterinary Science or Veterinary Medicine course is essential, along with a demonstrated ability to establish and engage a network of professional contacts in the animal or veterinary science industry. A proven research reputation, as reflected by publications, success in procuring competitive grants, and/or consultancy contracts is essential. If applying for the Associate Professor level, leadership skills to foster excellence in Veterinary Science are a must.
Salary and benefits

This position is a full-time, continuing position located at our Lismore campus. Generous relocation support available.
The base salary for Academic Level C ranges from $128,427, $147,663 per annum, plus 17% employer's contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $172,765.
The base salary for Academic Level D ranges from $154,080 - $169,474 per annum, plus 17% employer's contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $198,284.
