You will work with like-minded colleagues and lead a dynamic team to implement the Office's physical security, Property and Heritage Management Plans, embed best-practice into security management, property maintenance, project delivery and environmental management for two heritage listed Official Residences (Government House, Yarralumla and Admiralty House, Kirribilli).
Your in-depth knowledge and practical experience in contemporary physical security, Property and project management practices, processes, equipment and technology will add to the Office's capabilities. Your strong understanding of current legislation, Commonwealth and APS policies and processes, procurement and budget management, and reporting requirements will help ensure compliance and reduce complexity for staff.

The key duties of the position include
1. Leadership and Strategy:
- Contribute to leadership of the Office as a member of the Senior Leadership Team and support of whole of Office initiatives and activities.
- Advise senior management on physical security and property performance and risks; provide advice and support to senior leaders on physical security and property management; and provide thought leadership and guidance on physical security and property-related matters.
- Through collaborative leadership, motivate, build, and inspire the team; set clear goals and expectations and drive a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Develop engagement, trust, and respect to work effectively with stakeholders including the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, the Department of Finance, National Capital Authority, the Australian National Audit Office, internal audit providers, and other agencies.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Property Maintenance and Horticultural Operations teams including the management of budgets and resources.
- Manage and deliver the requirements of the Property Management and Heritage Management Plans.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and partners, and negotiate necessary contracts and agreements.
- Develop budgets and resource allocations and manage outcomes within those parameters.
- Deliver the requirements of the Security Management Plan.
- Deliver the requirements of the Heritage Management and Net Carbon Zero Plans.
- Ensure conformity with legislative requirements.
- Develop the Property Works Program; oversee the stand-up and delivery of property projects, ensuring that they are delivered on time and within budget.
- Engage with risk by identifying, monitoring and managing risks and implementing mitigations to support delivery of outcomes.
