You will be key to leading and/or supporting fiscal sustainability and value for money for the taxpayers of NSW and promoting sound financial management across the sector.

As a Director of Strategic Coordination, you will play a key leadership role within Treasury and the broader Financial Management and Services team. You will lead and facilitate organisation-wide strategic planning and provide high level advice to the Deputy Secretary and Executive Director on the development and implementation of organisational strategy, to enable achievement of Treasury business plans and key priorities. You will also ensure that Treasury delivers on its election commitments and manage Treasury’s performance reporting process.

Create positive impact for the people of NSW

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Lead on evolving Treasury’s organisation-wide strategy and aligning corporate plans to the strategy. 
  • Lead the development and execution of strategic and business planning processes, aligning program development, implementation and evaluation priorities to support delivery of Treasury’s overarching corporate strategy 
  • Lead, manage and coordinate Treasury’s performance reporting processes by linking inputs to achievement of targeted and actual outcomes to demonstrate value add, including the development and implementation of relevant reporting tools and frameworks to facilitate and drive continuous improvement. 
  • Lead on ensuring Treasury delivers on its election commitments, including participating in sector-wide forums and reporting, exercising a high degree of influence through effective negotiation in a highly complex and volatile environment. 
  • Lead and manage Treasury’s resource allocation to support the delivery of Treasury’s strategic goals, including providing guidance on Treasury’s budget savings opportunities and the management of New Policy Proposals. 
  • Lead (in partnership with the People & Talent team and Communications teams) the capability build and engagement for Senior Executives, including effective change management approaches and the deployment of new tools as required. 
  • Provide effective leadership and direction for priority projects, managing interdependencies and coordination across portfolios to ensure that information relating to deliverables are effectively communicated between senior stakeholders, and risks and issues are identified and mitigated. 
  • As part of the senior leadership team, develop the Group’s capability and build a culture that fosters innovative thinking and embraces collaborative approaches and mutually supportive relationships to working with senior executives across Treasury and across other relevant agencies. 

Achieve success as Director, Strategic Coordination

As a Director, you operate with considerable autonomy in the direction of the Unit and will be fully accountable for the quality, integrity and accuracy of outputs under your direction. The role prioritises, directs, and integrates the work of its direct reports and provides information and guidance to the Executive Director and other senior executives and Ministerial staff. You will be in a position to make recommendations to the Deputy Secretary, Secretary, Treasurer and Cabinet through the Executive Director.
