Organisational ProfileGEGAC is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation based on Gunaikurnai Country in Bairnsdale, Victoria. Consisting of about 160 staff, GEGAC is a Not for Profit organisation that delivers holistic services in the areas of Primary Health, Social Services, Elders & Disability and Early Childhood Education.GEGAC is a child safe agency and has a zero tolerance of abuse or neglect of children and young people.Position PurposeAs Director of Strategy and compliance, the director reports to the Chief Executive Officer and is pivotal in steering GEGAC towards its long-term objectives while ensuring strict adherence to legal requirements and industry standards. The Director leads the development of short-term and long-term strategic plans, aligning them with the organisation's purpose, vision, and overarching goals. This involves thorough market analysis, identification of growth opportunities, and risk assessment to ensure sustainable growth.The Director establishes and implements robust compliance programs to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. These programs guarantee adherence to all applicable requirements and incorporate efficient monitoring and reporting mechanisms to ensure continual compliance.The Director will identify and mitigate potential risks to GEGAC’s operations, reputation, and financial stability. The Director will also oversee the development of comprehensive strategies to address these risks and establish crisis management and business continuity protocols.The Director collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to align strategic objectives and compliance efforts with organisational goals. Key performance indicators are monitored regularly for continuous improvement while upholding a culture of integrity and transparency.The Director collaborates with other divisions to integrate strategic and compliance objectives into business processes. Timely regulatory reporting is overseen to guarantee compliance, and ongoing improvement initiatives are pursued to enhance organisational effectiveness.Key Selection Criteria

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in health administration, law, compliance, or a related field is essential, or a preferred master's degree in business administration, management, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 7-10 years of progressively responsible experience in strategic planning, compliance management, and leadership roles within complex organisations, preferably in the healthcare, social services, or government sectors. Over five years of experience in a senior executive or operational leadership role, ideally within the non-profit or Aboriginal community sector or experience working with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations.
  • Regulatory Compliance Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in designing, implementing, and overseeing regulatory policies and frameworks. A deep understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards is necessary to ensure adherence and mitigate risks effectively.
  • Strategic Thinking: Proven ability to develop and execute comprehensive strategic plans aligned with organisational goals. Must possess strong analytical skills to conduct market analysis, identify growth opportunities, and assess risks accurately. Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools to effectively lead strategic projects and initiatives from conception to completion is desirable.
  • Leadership Skills: Exceptional leadership qualities with a track record of effectively leading teams and driving change initiatives. The ability to inspire and motivate staff while fostering a culture of integrity, transparency, and accountability is essential.
  • Stakeholder Management: Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required to engage with internal and external stakeholders effectively. Experience in building and maintaining positive relationships with diverse stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, community partners, and clients, is crucial.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Proven ability to identify, analyse, and mitigate risks to organisational operations, reputation, and financial stability. Must possess excellent problem-solving skills to address complex issues and crises effectively. Previous experience in developing crisis management and business continuity protocols would be beneficial.

Qualifications and Registrations Requirement (Essential or Desirable).
  • Valid Driver’s License ESSENTIAL

  • A satisfactory Working with Children Check and Fit2Work Police Check ESSENTIAL
