About You
You are a skilled, seriously passionate and qualified individual with experience working in health education and people with disability. Your excellent communication skills, along with your demonstrated skills and experience in the delivery and evaluation of education and training programs will be viewed favourably.
The role
You work as a member of the team delivering group education programs to children and young people with disability; parents and carers; professionals and other support networks, in the areas of sex and sexuality, puberty, protective behaviours and respectful relationships.
As a vital member of our education & development team, you will play a crucial role in the ongoing expansion of SHQ’s services.
We are looking for applicants with a devoted passion to disability and education keen to work closely with a dedicated and experienced team.
Your Skills, Knowledge, Abilities and Experience
• Demonstrated skills and experience in the development, delivery and evaluation of education and training programs for professionals, school, and community groups.
• Demonstrated skilled approach to working with a range of community clients, including individuals with disabilities.
• Deliver group education programs in a school setting across a broad range of topic areas to primary and secondary students with supported learning needs.
• Working autonomously when delivering programs.
• Liaise with school personnel to tailor programs to meet desired outcomes.
• Timely responses and communications with school personnel.
• Support school personnel to implement strategies and program objectives.
• Adapt teaching style to cater to diverse abilities.
• Participate in the development of resources when tailoring education programs: visual resources, worksheets, and activities.
• Participate in developing, updating, and promoting education programs.
• Promote Counselling services, identify students who would benefit from one-one referral.
• Deliver one-one education to students in the school setting, identified as unable to participate in a group setting.
• Promote Professional Education to further support teaching personnel.
• Develop and maintain effective networks and collaborative working relationships with school personnel.
• Knowledge of contemporary issues and resources in sexual and reproductive health and experience in sexual health education.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to consult, network and develop good working relationships with diverse individuals and organisations, both internally and externally.
• Highly effective skills in interactive education and training and sound group facilitation skills.
Your qualifications and/or other requirements
• Relevant Tertiary qualification in education, health, community development, human services, Psychology, social work, or other relevant field and/or extensive relevant experience or equivalent.
• NDIS workers screening check
• NDIS orientation
• A National Police Clearance no older than 6 months from date of issue.
• Current Working with Children check
• Current certificate of immunisation and or evidence of immunity for (Hepatitis B, Influenza, Pertussis, Measles Mumps and Rubella, Varicella and COVID-19).
• Current unrestricted Australian drivers’ license.
• Willingness to travel as required.
