As an Australian Disability Enterprise (ADE) and recognised as a Social enterprise, Westcare's business encompasses printing, food and industrial packaging, and box making to a wide range of Western Australian clients.
Whilst their business encompasses printing, box making, food and industrial packaging, and safety services to a wide range of Western Australian clients, this role is to provide individualised support to residents of our Westcare Accommodation Village at Shenton Park.
About the Role
The Disability Support Mentor’s role is variable, depending on the participants needs, goals and aspirations. The hours required are a minimum of 10 hours per week and will include sleepover shifts.
Responsibility may include:
- Assisting participants on a 1:1 basis to work towards and achieve their goals within their NDIS plan in an inclusive and supportive way. This can include assisting participants in maintaining their independent living skills, or supporting them to connect with the local community through participating in social activities
- Providing individualised training and support in achieving their goals relating to Individual support plans
- Preparing regular case and training progress notes for all participants and entering these into a database. Entering payroll information.
- Conducting personal plan meetings and setting and plannin
- Organising inclusive social activities.
The successful applicant must be able to meet the following requirements:
- A minimum Certificate III in Disability/Individual Support/Community Services or equivalent
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate
- Sound written and oral communication skills, and demonstrated ability to provide efficient and valued personal assistance to people with disability
- Ability to work independently and autonomously
- Ability to work some sleepover shifts when required
- MS Office skills
- Current Police Clearance and a NDIS Worker Screening Check
- COVID-19 vaccination in accordance with WA Directions
- WA Driver's Licence
