WANTED - EXPERIENCED DISABILITY SUPPORT WORKERS
Australian Communities is an NDIS-registered Disability Service Provider supporting NDIS Participants with a disability, mental illness and complex needs who have a range of stakeholders and statutory agencies involved in their lives. We pride ourselves on providing high-quality, consistent and client-focussed supports and ensuring our staff are trained to be effective in their privileged and rewarding roles.
At present, our niche is providing 24/7 support to Participants in their homes, with the focus being to encourage and improve independent living skills and achieve individual goals (Supported Independent Living). We also offer respite accommodation supports (Short-Term Accommodation) in Forest Lake.

· Enjoy getting active and supporting people with community participation and household tasks, including cleaning.
· Are able to complete written shift notes and incident reports on time, using objective and professional language.
· Are able to follow plans, procedures and instructions.
· Show a personal commitment to professional development. You must be able to attend regular, paid and mandatory team meetings, supervision and training for each Participant.
· Communicate regularly. We have 24/7 on-call support for all staff and we expect you use that support and communicate well.
· Want to work regular shifts and get to know the participants well so they can have a small team of familiar and permanent people.
· Can work a variety of different shifts on a rotating roster, including sleepover shifts.
HIGHLY DESIRABLE
· Demonstrated experience supporting Participants with mental health challenges
· Qualifications in Disability, Mental Health or other relevant care related qualifications (or currently studying).
· Experience working with people who have a Positive Behaviour Support Plan.
· Previous experience supporting people with a dual diagnosis (mental health & disability).
· Maybo, Mapa or similar training in conflict resolution, safety and awareness.
ESSENTIAL
· Yellow card or NDIS Worker Screening clearance
· Blue card will be required if supporting children
· Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module 'Quality, Safety and You'
· Current First Aid (within last 3 years) and CPR (within 12 months)
· Evidence of vaccination against Covid-19
· Unrestricted Driver's Licence
· Access to a reliable car with comprehensive insurance to transport participants in
