Axess Ability is seeking a casual Disability Support Worker to join their service offering Centre Based group supports and community participation supports through assisting participants with access to social and community activities and events and preparation and delivery of on-site programs both individually and in group settings as required.
The position will involve;
- Assisting adults with disabilities to access social, educational and recreational activities within the community as required.
- Support participants to actively participate in activities at Axess Ability by running programs and activities.
- Transporting client to/from social and community activities as required which may require use of personal vehicle.
- Encouraging and enhancing participants’ ability to engage in appropriate social skills whilst out in the community
- Personal care such as assistance with toileting/showering/personal hygiene
- Meal preparation and assistance with feeding, including following participants individual mealtime support plans
- Reporting any situations of risk and incidents, including near misses, to management
- Following Behaviour Support Plans and engaging in least restrictive practices to implement behavioural supports.
- Maintain client records as outlined in policy and procedure documents and according to current legislation and policy directions
- Manage client finances where relevant in accordance with established procedures
- Adhere to the NDIS Abuse and Neglect obligations and to report immediately any serious incidents as required
- To keep up-to-date with current Axess Ability policies and procedures
- Maintain regular communication with participant families, advocates, carer’s and significant others within the community.
- Compliance with relevant legislation particularly NDIS legislation and standards
- Understanding/familiarity with organisational policies, procedures (Quality Management System, Equal Opportunity, Health & Safety etc)
- Complete any ongoing training as per NDIS requirements or as deemed necessary by Axess Ability management
Criteria;
- Certificate III or IV in Disability/Individual Support (or equivalent/s)
- National Police Check
- International Police Check if lived/worked outside Australia in the past 10 years
- NDIS Staff Screening check (Mandatory)
- 2 Professional references
- Proven experience working with Challenging Behaviours
- A valid Driver Licence
- Safe and reliable vehicle with comprehensive insurance
- Level II First Aid and CPR (or willing to obtain)
Hours and Rates;
- Casual
- Monday to Friday - between 8.00 am to 4.00 pm as required
- Saturdays – as required
- Base rate between $32.73 to $42.79 per hour (depending on qualifications/experience)
