Needs to have Certificate 3 or 4 in disability/individual support
Has driving license and needs to drive
Experience in mental disability sector or autistic patient experience min 6 months
THE ROLE
The Aboriginal Support Worker is First Nations Identified and directly engages with First Nations members of the community, acting as their initial contact via face-to-face and phone interactions. The role involves delivering culturally affirmative services, practices and outcomes for identifying their goals and needs, referring to alternative support agencies when needed.

- Providing support services to clients presenting with a wide range of needs including: AOD, disability, health and wellbeing, domestic violence, mental health and isolation.
- Deliver case management activities in accordance with BCF’s practice approach, working through individualised plans to deliver outcomes that holistically and flexibly meet individual goals and needs.
- Delivering high quality services and community engagement, facilitating positive educational and social experiences and provision of cultural advice to peers and welfare team.
- Develop a business case for increasing understanding, value and recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, knowledge and rights within our organisation.
- Provide assistance and suggest processes and training to enhance staff comprehension of the importance and meaning behind cultural protocols, encompassing Acknowledgement of Country and Welcome to Country protocols.
- Work with key Stakeholders, Traditional Owners, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, diverse community members and community organisations to ensure inclusive engagement and positive outcomes
- Build strong relationships with partner agencies through strengths focused engagement including building relationships with local communities, kinship groups and with elders
WE NEED YOU TO HAVE:
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Social Science or Community Development/Services
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
- Intermediate level – MS applications (Word, Excel, Power Point)
