About the Role
We are currently seeking a team of passionate Disability Support Workers with Auslan skills to provide support to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. As a Support Worker, you'll have the opportunity to assist participants in developing essential skills, including personal care, cooking, domestic assistance, social support and relationship building.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will have:
- The ability to communicate using Auslan at a basic level
- Previous experience working with deaf individuals or within the Deaf community
- Effective communication skills with deaf individuals, utilising various communication methods
- Demonstrated patience and empathy in supporting individuals
- A commitment to continuous learning, and improving communication skills and cultural competence
Requirements
To apply for this role, you must have or be willing to obtain:
- NDIS Worker Screening Card
- Working with Children Check
- Current police check conducted within the last 6 months
- Current first aid and CPR certificate
- Valid Australian driver's license (with a reliable and comprehensively insured car)
- Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability/Aged Care) or another relevant qualification
