We are seeking Disability Support Workers in Carrum Downs, Victoria.
Our customer is a lady in her 60's, in a local Aged Care Facility, who is verbal and living with an ABI (following a stroke), dementia, diabetes, hypertension and has full dependancy on her electric wheelchair. She and her family are looking for confident Support Workers, who can plan ahead of time and come up with capacity-building and goal-orientated community access activities.
Shifts from Monday to Sunday, between the hours of 10.30am to 2.30pm.
Desirable:
- Proven or lived experience as a Disability Support Worker or in a similar role
- Certificate III or IV in Disability Support, a related field, or the ability to obtain
- Manual handling training
- Knowledge and understanding of Disability Support principles, policies, and practices
- Worker Orientation Module
- New Worker NDIS Induction Module
- Supporting Effective Communication
- Supporting Safe and Enjoyable Meals

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Providing hands-on support and care to individuals with physical and neurological disabilities.
- Assisting individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication administration, and household tasks.
- Promoting independence and facilitating community participation.
- Following personalised care plans to meet the unique needs of each individual.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care and support.
- Maintaining accurate and timely documentation of care provided and reporting any changes in individual's needs.
- Adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines to guarantee a safe working environment for yourself and the people we support.
You must have or have the ability to obtain:
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Police Check
- Working with Children's Check
You must have:
- The ability to communicate effectively with individuals with disability, their families, and other stakeholders such as OT's, Physio's etc.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive and professional relationships with the people we support.
- The ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet in challenging situations.
- Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
