Role Overview:
As a Casual Support Worker at Yarra Disability Services, you will play a crucial role in providing compassionate and person-centred support to individuals with disabilities. We are looking for somebody to work in our 'Assist' unit where your responsibilities will include assisting with daily living activities, promoting independence, taking your client into the community, and travelling in your personal vehicle with the participant. You may also be rostered within our 'Connect' unit which includes day-trips and overnight camps.
Key Responsibilities:
- Personalised Support: Provide one-on-one support to individuals, assisting with daily living tasks based on their unique needs and preferences.
- Community Engagement: Facilitate community outings and activities, encouraging social participation and integration.
- Communication: Maintain clear and respectful communication with individuals, their families, and other members of the support team.
- Documentation: Keep accurate records of support provided, progress, and any notable observations, adhering to confidentiality and privacy standards.
- Flexibility: Embrace the dynamic nature of the role, adapting to the evolving needs of individuals under your care.
Skills and Qualifications:
- More than 1 year of experience in Disability Support or a related field.
- Compassion, empathy, and a genuine interest in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility in working hours to accommodate the casual nature of the position.
